Sea Wolf in the intertidal zone of Great Bear Rainforest
On the intertidal shores of one of the thousands of islands found in the realm of the Great Bear Rainforest stands, majestically, a Sea Wolf. Also known as a Coastal Wolf, (Canis lupus) these mammals, unlike their mainland counterparts, subsist on a diet primarily of seafood: salmon, seal, herring eggs, abalone, and clams. They are genetically distinct from all other wolves and may live their entire lives in and around the islands, sometimes swimming between them, without ever touching the mainland.
