King penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) reflected in wet sand at sunrise. Volunteer Point, Falkland Islands
In the very early morning hours at Volunteer Point, the king penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus) head to the beach to clean themselves. They go in and out of ocean and slowly waddle along the beach, as only king penguins do. In this image, I caught them at sunrise, as they were preparing to enter the ocean. I carefully selected the height from which to create the image, ensuring that I captured their reflection in the water on the sandy beach. East Falkland, Falkland Islands
